Sarasota, Florida - My American Adventure begins

After a 12 hour flight from Nadi, Fiji to Los Angeles, a 9 hour transit at LAX, a 4 1/2 hour flight from LAX to Tampa and a 1 hour drive from TPA to Sarasota... I FINALLY ARRIVED!!!  My American Adventure begins!

Why Sarasota?  A few months ago I contacted my uncle, who lives in Florida, via Facebook to see if it would be possible to visit him for a while.  I had not seen this uncle of mine since I was eight.  Nevertheless, he gladly invited me into his home!

1. The dogs in Sarasota are absolutely gorgeous.  I remember thinking "little clean dogs on leashes: obviously NOT in Fiji"... Uncle Danny has the cutest chihuahua named Bella :)

2. When in Sarasota, it is essential that one goes Kayaking!  We mostly kayaked by Lido Beach... It was a fantastic way to see the wildlife - Birds, fish, manatees and dolphins - all of which is amazingly abundant there.  I have great memories of being so close to manatees and dolphins in the water. Apart from that, it is a great way to go 'house watching' because there are some pretty big mansions along the waterfront.

Notice that fearless cormorant bird following me?!

3. Another great thing to do during the summer is to go boating.  We boated by most of the keys in the Sarasota area, stopping to swim and go tubing.  I also got to drive the boat occasionally! *fun*

4. Marina Jack - a nice marina near home and near downtown Sarasota - it's a great place to go for a walk, especially with little Bella, the dog.

5. Our favourite spot for dinner on a summer evening: 'The Old Salty Dog' Restaurant
